Best 101 Romantic Proposal Ideas - Make her say "YES"
"The Romantic Guide To Popping The Question" by Michael Webb
Review by Gaurab Borah
You will have to forgive me if I don’t find Michael Webb’s e-book “The Romantic’s Guide to Popping the Question” exciting nor exceptional. This initially caught my attention because of the advertisement it sent out that his not-so-original ideas on marriage proposal was even featured in Oprah. I mean, I’m a big fan of Oprah and her show though I no longer get to watch her shows that often anymore.
My expectation was set that this must be something worth buying and reading because good old romantic me just can’t help but get carried away by scenes of marriage proposals, whether imagined or actual. I’m absolutely sure that you have thought about this at some point in your life.

What the Book Says?
Well, guys, you would have been better off reading something else. Mr. Webb claimed he ran a contest just to find the best collections of actual instances when a person popped the all-important question in the most romantic way possible. And from over 7,000 responses all over the world, he picked out only the best ones. Granted that a few of them are indeed cute and all, but some of the stories he added there do not even merit a spot on the e-book.
Why would you want to include marriage proposal ideas that led to a person getting kicked out of his job or another person using a corpse as props while proposing? To provide a measure of learning experience? C’mon. They are just incredible suggestions that I don’t even for a second believe that it ever happened. Granted that some cultures might have different customs when it comes to proposing marriage, but I would suggest leaving that to documentaries that tackle such topic.
Let us start putting some perspective on an e-book that is supposed to talk about romantic ideas to asking for someone’s hand in marriage. Romance e-book is about making the reader feel good about love situations. One situation covered in the book was about popping the question while you and your partner are in open water. I do not think this is any different from scenes I’ve seen in some romantic movies with the Eiffel Tower as a backdrop or when two lovers are under a mistletoe.
What It should have Said?
My idea of proposal scenes that deserve a page in an e-book should include a background on the lovers’ love story that led to the proposal scene. Not all individuals are gifted with a creative, imaginative mind who can put such brilliant ideas to a real scene. So your success in following the characters’ lead mentioned in the e-book also depends on those characteristics. Otherwise, just be happy for them.
